Somchai Wattana
Managing Director, Bangkok
The narrative work we did ahead of our capital discussions was one of the better investments we made in that process. We entered those conversations knowing what we wanted to say and, more importantly, why. The adviser pushed back on some of our framing in ways that were uncomfortable but ultimately correct.

Priya Lakshmi
CEO, Singapore-based regional office
I came into a fairly complex regional leadership role with limited time to prepare and a lot of unknowns. The transition work helped me understand which relationships to prioritise in the first weeks and which assumptions I was carrying in that I needed to test. The follow-up calls were genuinely useful, not just check-ins.

Thanakorn Chirathivat
Family business principal, Chiang Mai
We needed a document that could be shared with family members who are not involved in the day-to-day business before some important ownership conversations. The memorandum was accurate, clear, and written in a way that was honest without being unnecessarily alarming. It gave us a better foundation for those discussions than we would have had otherwise.

Markus Obermeyer
Regional Director, European firm in Bangkok
What I appreciated most was the directness. I have worked with consultants who tell you what you want to hear — that was not the experience here. The adviser had a clear view on what was working in our narrative and what was not, and the final document reflected that clarity. Worth more than its fee.

Napasorn Kongsakul
Incoming COO, Thai manufacturing group
I found the transition support practical rather than theoretical. The plan we developed was grounded in actual specifics of the organisation I was entering, not generic frameworks. That said, some of the sessions ran longer than scheduled — not a complaint exactly, but something to factor in time-wise.

Andrea Lim
Founder, advisory services firm, Kuala Lumpur
The memorandum for our business was something I had been putting off for two years because I didn't know how to approach it. The process at Halcyon Bureau was structured enough to get us through it, but not so rigid that it missed the particularities of our situation. The document is something I am genuinely comfortable sharing.

Case Studies
Three situations, described in more detail.
Case Study 01 · Business Narrative Consultation
The Situation
A Thai industrial company preparing for its first institutional investor conversation had a strong business but a fragmented story. Leadership had different views on what the company's direction actually was, and the materials they had prepared reflected that lack of alignment.
The Engagement
Three sessions over three weeks. The first established where the leadership team actually agreed and where it didn't. The second session built the narrative around those areas of genuine alignment. The third refined the final document and talking points.
The Outcome
The investor conversations proceeded on the basis of a coherent, accurate narrative. The leadership team reported that the process of preparing the narrative was itself useful for internal clarity, independent of the investor outcome.
"The working sessions were harder than I expected, which turned out to be the point. We came out with something we could actually stand behind." — MD, Bangkok
Case Study 02 · Leadership Transition Support
The Situation
An executive from a European parent company was moving into a senior role at a Bangkok-based subsidiary. She had deep functional expertise but limited prior experience in Thailand and limited time to prepare before starting the role.
The Engagement
Two sessions covering the organisational context, key relationships, and the priorities that were likely to require attention in the first ninety days. A written plan was produced. Two follow-up calls took place at four weeks and eight weeks into the role.
The Outcome
The executive described the preparation as having reduced the number of surprises in the first months. Several of the relationship dynamics identified in the planning sessions turned out to be accurate, and the advance preparation had given her a framework for handling them.
"I walked in knowing which questions would come early and which relationships needed careful attention. That matters more than most transition support I've received." — Regional Director
Case Study 03 · Business Memorandum Preparation
The Situation
A family business founder approaching retirement needed a document that could be shared with the next generation and with two prospective external advisers. The business had not been documented comprehensively before, and there were aspects of the history that needed to be presented with care.
The Engagement
A four-week engagement including six interview sessions and review of historical financial and operational materials. The document went through two draft stages before the final version was agreed.
The Outcome
The memorandum was shared with the three intended audiences and served its purpose for each: providing the next generation with an honest account of the business, and giving the external advisers a clear picture of the company's position without the founder needing to repeat himself in multiple conversations.
"Having a document I could actually give people changed the quality of the conversations I was able to have. I wish we had done this earlier." — Founder
