Our Engagements
Three services. Each with a clear scope, a written deliverable, and a fixed fee.
Halcyon Bureau does not offer a menu of loosely defined consulting services. We offer three carefully bounded engagements, each designed around a specific kind of situation.

How we approach every engagement.
Every engagement at Halcyon Bureau begins with the same question: what does this person actually need to leave this process with? The answer shapes the scope, the sessions, and the standard applied to the final output. We do not start from a template and fill in the details — we start from the client's situation and build toward a specific outcome.
The working process is collaborative but directed. We bring structure to what can often feel like unstructured material — a business history, a leadership context, a set of concerns that have not yet been articulated clearly. Our role is to help organise that material into something that works for its intended audience.
Engagements typically run two to four weeks, depending on scope. Timeline is agreed before work begins and is realistic rather than optimistic.
Intake Conversation
Understanding the situation, the audience, and the outcome needed before any work begins.
Working Sessions
Structured conversations producing drafts and intermediate documents that refine toward the final output.
Delivery and Review
The final deliverable is reviewed jointly before the engagement closes and accepted only when it meets standard.
Engagement 01
Business Narrative Consultation
For leaders preparing for significant external conversations — investor discussions, board presentations, strategic partnerships. We work through what the organisation is, where it is heading, and why that direction makes sense, refining the articulation until it reads as considered and credible.
The engagement includes three working sessions and results in a written narrative document and supporting talking points. Typical duration is three to four weeks.
- Three structured working sessions with a senior adviser
- Written business narrative document delivered at close
- Supporting talking points for key audience conversations
- Revisions within scope included at no additional cost
Process Steps
Initial intake session — understanding the audience, the purpose, and the current state of the narrative
Working session — drafting and stress-testing the core narrative structure with the adviser
Refinement session — finalising the document and preparing supporting talking points
Process Steps
Context mapping — understanding the organisation, the key relationships, and the dynamics already in motion
Planning session — developing a grounded ninety-day plan with specific priorities and relational considerations
Follow-up conversations — two check-ins during the transition itself to revisit the plan against what is actually unfolding
Engagement 02
Leadership Transition Support
When a new leader is entering a role — whether through promotion, external hire, or ownership change — thoughtful preparation can make the first months meaningfully better. We work with the incoming leader to understand the context they are entering, identify the relationships and questions that will require early attention, and prepare a grounded plan for the first ninety days.
The engagement runs over two to three weeks and continues with two follow-up conversations during the transition itself.
- Context and stakeholder mapping
- Grounded ninety-day plan document
- Two follow-up conversations during transition
- Identification of early priorities and relational risks
Engagement 03
Business Memorandum Preparation
A focused engagement producing a considered written document about the business, suitable for sharing with advisors, potential partners, family members involved in ownership questions, or prospective acquirers. We conduct thorough interviews, review relevant materials, and prepare a document that presents the business with accuracy and appropriate care.
Engagements typically run four weeks. The final document remains confidential to the client.
- Thorough interview process and material review
- Professionally written memorandum document
- Suitable for advisors, partners, acquirers, or family principals
- Remains strictly confidential to the client
Process Steps
Interview series — structured conversations about the business, its history, the leadership, and the current position
Material review — examination of relevant documentation provided by the client to supplement the interviews
Draft and refinement — producing a working draft for client review, then refining to the final document
